Tanning

Tanning is an important step in leather production. The animal skin is stabilized and transformed into leather using tanning agents. STRÖBER shoes are made exclusively from high-quality leathers that are kind to the skin and the environment.

Leather is tanned animal skin. The tanning agents used serve to preserve the leather. There are various types of tanning agents:

Tex-membrane

Thin layer between the upper and lining leather of the shoe, which makes it water-repellent from the outside. At the same time, moisture from the interior can escape to the outside, keeping feet warm and dry and ensuring a healthy foot climate.

Therapy and bandage shoes

Therapy and bandage shoes are specially designed for people with foot bandages and are suitable as fully-fledged leather shoes for pain and pressure-sensitive, deformed and extremely wide feet.

Toe cap

A plastic part that is inserted between the upper and lining leather to give the desired shape and provide the foot with a certain degree of protection against external influences.

Tongue

A leather tongue that protects the foot from friction and dirt in the closure area. The back of the foot is padded by the shoe tongue against the lacing

top sole

Cover that runs over the footbed. At STRÖBER, unless otherwise stated, always made of genuine leather.

Torsion

Twisting of the foot. This counter-movement from forefoot to hindfoot only occurs in the human foot.

TPS

Sole material. Thermoplastic starch polymer - water-repellent, biodegradable material.

TPU

Sole material. Thermoplastic polyurethane is flexible, resilient, has a high flexural fatigue strength and is very weather-resistant.

TR/TPR

Sole material made of thermoplastic rubber, with good slip resistance, low abrasion and excellent tread properties. This material offers versatile optical and aesthetic processing options.

Transverse arch

Arch on the skeleton of the foot between the metatarsal heads 1- 5.

Trekking shoes

Trekking shoes usually have a robust, stable sole and are often used for hiking and long walks. A non-slip tread and a stable design for good grip and stability are often characteristic features. Trekking shoes are often made from weatherproof materials.

Tucking

Tucking is a technical term used in shoe manufacturing. The edge of the upper with the lining leather is pulled over the last and fastened under the insole.
